Pharmacy Technician

All of the required documents are required for all applicants. Duties Include but are not limited to:
Performs a wide variety of complex procedures involved in the activities of all sections of the pharmacy without close supervision. Operates and maintains complicated pharmacy equipment such as the Baxter ATC machine, laminar flow hoods, automed dispensing devices, omnciell, etc. Compounds and/or reconstitutes oral or external medications (non-sterile) without a second review. Calculating and converting to proper weights and measures the amount of drug or solution to be used. Maintains proper records of all prepacked items to include amount, manufacturer, lot number, and expiration date, etc. Answers questions from pharmacy and non-pharmacy personnel regarding drug distribution. Accurately prints BCMA labels and affixes to correct drugs, IV labels, and medication labels, (etc) required and/or as directed by the supervisor. Work Schedule:

Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent; or at least 3 months experience. Physical Requirements:
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertions, involving standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. and bending/stooping. English Language Proficiency:
Pharmacy technicians appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with chapter 2, section D, paragraph 5a, this part. Grade Determinations, GS-6:
Experience:
One year experience at the next lower level, and must fully meet the KSAs at the next lower level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk ( ):
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to solve problems and make recommendations, e.g., troubleshoot operational problems and refer for appropriate action. 2. Knowledge of the operation and care of automated equipment. 3. Knowledge of, and ability to follow, written instructions for compounding with aseptic technique for hazardous materials such as oncology agents. 4. Knowledge, and ability to perform, compounding with aseptic technique for routine sterile products. 5. Knowledge of policies and procedures for inventory management in specialized areas such as emergency carts. 6. Knowledge of the computerized prescription process demonstrated by the ability to input prescriptions and medication orders. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Certification:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
